Description.
The NSW Agency of Clinical Innovation appointed me as their User Interface Designer to produce new accessible and responsive web design that complied with WCAG AA standards, which all government agencies were required to do at the time.
Under the direction of the in-house Design Manager, my initial design task was to fix some UI designs which had commenced by another designer. I made adjustments to the designs in order to align them with the Bootstrap design system. This was ACI’s design system of choice before I started there.
Brief & Idea.
The brief for this project was specifically to work on the UI design for ACI’s new website and consider the accessibility requirements that ACI had to abide by. User experience design was something I considered when thinking about accessibility needs.
This involved analysing the old site and creating responsive components and landing pages that reflected ACI’s new branding.
I used Adobe XD to create several desktop and mobile landing page UI designs that I tested on my mobile and desktop environments.
I also established and separated each component to keep a design system for desktop and mobile. This was made so that Developers could understand which components were used and how they looked on the UI page designs .
Result.
Due to the onset of the Covid outbreak the UI design project was put aside to handle more urgent priorities.
Once the Covid outbreak wasn’t the main focus of ACI, the project recommenced in stages with an external development team.
The existing site was then slowly replaced by the new designs which were now accessible by medical practitioners and professionals.
