Today I did a bit of work on my website, realising that this is perhaps what’s letting me down on securing interviews. I haven’t quite got to adding another project yet. Instead, I figured out how to implement a Google Calendar booking link, and also how to zoom and pan an image—similar to what you get with Google Maps.
So, I hear you say, “Why didn’t you just work on the portfolio part?”
Well, I kinda did, actually. I’m all about solving problems and getting things to work with ease. Yes, I stared at the tutorial screen wondering 🤔, am I ever going to understand this logic for the image zoom?
After about an hour of trying, the answer was clearly a “No, I am not.”
So, I used a tool—AI—to help me figure out the answer. Much like an old-school calculator, I dropped in the bits of code I was mucking around with and gave it a prompt. The first solution wasn’t quite right, so I thought of better prompts, and voilà! I got the answer and tested it in my own HTML page on my staging server.
It actually bloody worked! Wow. I really couldn’t believe it. The only thing left for me to do was to make my image the correct aspect ratio of 16:9.
One thing you will get to know about me: I don’t give up so easily. I’m resourceful, and I do my best to solve problems that others would probably just put in the “too-hard basket.” 🧺
Nope, not me. I accept a good challenge. I can, and I will, find ways to get things to work well, and for its intended purpose. I’m a product designer—that’s what we’re trained to do.
So, if you need someone to tackle some of the most challenging tasks or ideas 💡, I’m willing and able. Get in touch, cos yeah, I need the work.
Life’s no Swiss cheese 🧀 without it! 😉
